GRAFARC nominated for Webby Awards!

April 12, 2005 on 11:53 am | In events and press | Comments Off on GRAFARC nominated for Webby Awards!

Wow! Graffiti Archaeology has been nominated for the 9th annual Webby Awards, in two categories: Arts and Best Navigation/Structure. It’s pretty funny to see our little site, which was basically developed by two people with the help of a handful of friends, up there next to sites like Google!

Since I don’t anticipate being up at a podium any time soon, let me take this opportunity to say a big public thank you to Eric at Stamen Design, and all of the photographers without whose contributions the site would be pretty boring, and of course all the writers out there for their tireless insanity.

Congratulations to all the other nominees, especially my friend Spot and his amazing project Electric Sheep!

GRAFARC on CNN Headline News

Today GRAFARC was featured on CNN Headline News. They invited me in to their San Francisco studio for a two-minute interview. It was a pretty crazy experience: the news anchor was in Atlanta, and though I could hear her voice through the little Agent Smith style earbud they gave me, I never once saw her face. In fact, since the camera was robotic, there wasn’t anyone else in the room at all, except Eric, who was there to take pictures and try to make me crack up on camera. Here’s what the studio looks like:

The DORKBOT-SF event was a blast! Here are some photos:

Also, the fine fellows at False Profit asked me to put the word out: the wall in front of their space is an open canvas for artists. Right now there’s some excellent work up there by D23. Anyone interested in painting there, please contact them.
